Guild Fall Retreat

I hope everyone agrees that the Guild Fall Retreat Sept 20 and 21 at the Courtyard Marriott, Westport, was a splendid success.  Kudos and a round of applause to Brenda and Helpers for the superb organization.   The Guild should probably write a Thank You note to Rob and Boys for putting up with the accumulation of “stuff,” excuse me, prizes, that populated their home.  The addition of an Auction was a success with vibrant, excited bidding.  Who knew that Brenda is a skilled Auctioneer out of the gate.

 Nominating Committee

·        Robin is leading this team

·        The Guild year ends with the calendar year with potential change to leadership roles for Board & Committees.

·        The Nomination Committee will present the proposed roster for 2026 at the October Meeting followed by the vote in December.

CharityColumbus House is the focus for charity work along with on-going colorful pillowcases for hospitalized children.  Sheree DiMario of Columbus House will visit the Guild in November to share information and answer questions.

Charity Tally for 2025:

·        15 quits to Homes for Homeless

·        7 quilts to victims of California Fires

·        10 quilts to Columbus House.

·        Lots of pillowcases.  Keep ‘em coming.

Guild’s Show in Westport – Quilts with a Story

Please send Terrie & Tait details for quilts you’d like to show.  The information is needed ASAP for the library to determine what to hang where.   Smaller quilts such as lap / baby / art are appropriate for the show space.  Large quilts will not fit.  If you have a media contact, please share name, phone number and email to help spread the word.

AQS Juried Show the weekend April 8-11, 2026 in Hartford.  The Modern division needs more quilts – Deadline Nov 6.  Send 2 photos by Nov; one of the full quilt, one of a 12” section to show detail.  https://www.americanquilter.com/quiltweek/aqs-quilt-contests/

People who attended previously note that AQS members get preference for classes which sell out all but immediately.  Attending lectures is highly recommended as an alternative.  Last year’s keynote by Hillary Goodwin (entropyalwayswins.com), ER Doc, was phenomenal.
