QuiltCon 2025 Challenges
Community Outreach Challenge:
The Community Outreach Challenge is back for 2025 with a calming palette and the geometric theme of lines and bars.
This year’s color palette is shown below with its corresponding code for Moda Bella Solids fabrics. Be sure to use a total of at least four colors in your quilt. You do not have to use all of the colors shown, nor are you required to use Moda Bella solids for this project. Get creative with your use of solids and prints. Make it scrappy, or reuse bits from older projects.
Colors theme: 9900-26, 9900-81, 9900-19, 9900-345, 9900-74. 9900-284, 9900-422, 9900-78
Windham Ruby & Bee Fabric Challenge:
Our featured speaker for QuiltCon 2025, Tara Faughnan, has selected six beautiful Ruby+Bee Solids from Windham Fabrics for you to work with in this year’s fabric challenge!
Quilters may use from 3 to 6 colors in the palette to create their quilt. Any other fabric, neutrals, etc. may not be used on the quilt top or binding. Makers may use any fabric of their choice for the quilt backing. Maximum quilt size is 94” per side.
Colors to use: Ruby & Bee Solids - 51583-9, 51583-69, 51583-39, 51583-48, 51583-26, 51583-44.
Quilt entries open from September 1 to October 31, 2024
American Patchwork and Quilting Transparency Challenge:
For QuiltCon 2025, the MQG and American Patchwork & Quilting want to see your take on transparency in modern quilts!
Transparency in quiltmaking is a visual illusion – an implied sense of transparency created by the combination of fabrics that makes them appear as though they are overlapping and blending into one another. Quilters create this effect by playing with different colors that are next to one another on the color wheel.
Submission open September 1, 2024 and close October 31, 2024.
